Te Pou Tokotoko Whatumanawa – The Physical Heart

Another Eponymous ancestor was Tāwhaki who like Tāne and Ranginui before him was attributed the great feat of ascending Ngā Rangi-tūhāhā, the 12 heavens retrieve his spiritual totem, the 4 baskets of ancient incantations from source, i.e. Io-Matua-Te-Kore to benefit humanity. The baskets can be seen hanging from his shoulders. He is reaching up and climbing Te Aka Matua the indomitable Sacred Vine that enables him to make his ascension. The Lightning bolts that explode from his arm pits, are said to be what he experienced during his ascension and a gift from his grandmother Whaitiri-Mākākā. Spiritual Totems: Ngā Kuri Pūwharu ā Tama-i-waho, The dogs of Tama-i-waho after being warned not to steal any of Tama-i-waho’s dogs from the 10th Rangi (realm), he went against his warning and took two dogs. His Weapon being the Huata.
